Getting licensed from Hoover

We don’t have a classroom in Hoover itself. Hoover students come to our main school next door in Vestavia Hills, at 601 Vestavia Pkwy on US-31, a straight drive north from the Galleria and Riverchase area. It’s on the second floor of the Barbour Building, with parking in the rear lot.

Classes meet Tuesdays and Wednesdays for eight weeks, daytime or evening. If the drive doesn’t fit your schedule, the same course is taught live on Zoom, or you can take it online at your own pace.

Hoover is one of Alabama’s largest cities, with neighborhoods from Riverchase to Ross Bridge and Trace Crossings. Mark Yarbrough, who has taught real estate in Alabama for more than 20 years, and his team will get you through the course and ready for the Alabama salesperson exam.

After you’re licensed in Hoover

After you pass the exam, pick a brokerage to sponsor your license. Plenty of firms work Hoover and the rest of south Birmingham, so compare a few on training, splits and support before you commit.

Many agents in Hoover join the Birmingham Association of REALTORS®, which serves the Birmingham metro and partners with the Greater Alabama MLS, the state’s largest listing service. Joining is optional, but it gives you MLS access and the REALTOR® title; new members complete an orientation course within 90 days.

Then come two deadlines to keep your license: the 30-hour post-license course within six months of activating it (twelve months if inactive), and 15 hours of continuing education every two years after that. We offer both online.
